In light of recent discussions with friends and colleagues, I would like to point out 訛音 and list them as they exist in Mandarin.
訛音 refers to sound change that does not correspond to natural sound change. For example, the Chinese word 江 went through the pronunciation change from *krong (初唐音) > *krang (晚唐音) > *kjang (宋音) > chjang (明清音). One cannot say that 'chjang' is 訛音 simply because it differs from '*krong.' On the contrary, 'chjang' is 正音 because it follows the natural, phonological changes of Chinese and Mandarin. 訛音 in Mandarin is unnatural changes due to poor knowledge, illiteracy, or Peking people's stupidity that results in 讀字讀半邊 無邊讀中間.
The following is a list of 訛音. I will add to the list as time goes on:
1. <嶼> = 徐呂反 音序 = *zjo' > zjos > zjoh > zjo51 > zju51 > sju51 > sy51 (今國音正音). 島嶼 should be pronounced 島序 in Mandarin. 鼓浪嶼 should be pronounced 鼓浪序.
Compare this with other languages of the Modern day, 粵語 = cheoi22. Lantau island in Hong Kong, 大嶼山, is pronounced 大聚山 (tai22 cheoi22 shan55) in Cantonese.
閩南語 = su51 閩東語 = sy33. The famous tourist place in Amoy, 鼓浪嶼, is pronounced koo55-rong21-su51 in 閩南語.
